Pacnet’s IP VCN Service Wins IEC InfoVision Award at Broadband World Forum Asia 2008

HONG KONG, 17 July 2008 – Pacnet has again won industry recognition for its product innovation with a third consecutive win at the annual International Engineering Consortium (IEC) InfoVision awards.

This year, Pacnet’s IP Virtual Community Network (VCN) service won the InfoVision Award in the New Product Concepts category. Last year, Pacnet won the InfoVision Award in the Network Core Innovation and Advances category for its Call Aggregation Service (CAS) and in 2006, won in the same category for its M-Flex IP VPN service.

Receiving the award at the awards ceremony held during Broadband World Forum Asia 2008 in Hong Kong, Wilfred Kwan, Pacnet’s Chief Technology Officer said, ”We are delighted to be honored again with the prestigious InfoVision Award.”

“Winning the InfoVision Award for three consecutive years is indeed encouraging to our Product Management team as we continue to focus on developing leading edge products that are truly innovative and attuned to customer needs,” said Mr Kwan.

The InfoVision Awards program recognizes technologies, applications, products, advances and services deployed in the Asia-Pacific region judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the telecommunications industry and consumers globally. The InfoVision Awards also honor corporations and individuals for their innovative contributions and developments that have proven important to society.

“We’re pleased to honor Pacnet for its IP VCN service as a winner of this year’s InfoVision Awards at the Broadband World Forum Asia 2008 in Hong Kong,” commented IEC Executive Vice President Roger Plummer. “This year our judges chose Pacnet IP VCN as the sole winner in the New Product Concepts category.”

The IEC Awards submissions were judged by a panel of industry experts based on the following criteria:

1. Value of service or technology in solving recognized technology problems, meeting network requirements, optimizing service and performance, and/or enhancing customer service
2. Overall quality of innovation and contribution to technology advancement
3. Originality and vision
4. Potential contribution toward positive industry growth and service
5. Market success/acceptance (where applicable)
6. Contribution to end-user quality of experience and service efficiency

“With the accelerated pace of globalization, enterprises are demanding faster, secure network connections between their various business units. Pacnet’s IP VCN solution addresses this demand by enabling their IP VPN networks to be connected quickly, securely and on an on-demand basis,” elaborated Mr Kwan.

The IP VCN service provides a cost-effective and flexible alternative to higher-cost dedicated connections, by allowing customers the convenience of interconnecting their IP VPN networks securely by simply logging in and activating a security key.

Once interconnected, they will be able to enjoy all the features and benefits of Pacnet’s industry-leading IP VPN network, allowing them to interconnect the full suite of IP applications such as voice, video and data in a secure environment. Additionally, they have the flexibility of choosing from Pacnet’s five different classes of service, as well as flexible usage-based billing.
