Pacnet Wins for Contributions to Hong Kong and Australian Trade

SYDNEY, 20 October 2008 – Pacnet, one of Australia and the Asia Pacific’s leading business telecommunications service providers, has been selected as the winner of the ‘Contribution to Industry’ award by the NSW chapter of the Hong Kong Australia Business Association (HKABA).

This award was given in recognition of Pacnet’s contribution to and achievement in the global communications market, particularly for providing advanced telecommunications services which support international trade between Australia and Hong Kong, as well as to China and the rest of the region.

“With such a strong business focus on increasing the communications abilities of businesses within the Asia Pacific, we are thrilled to be recognised for our contributions, particularly by an independent business association like the HKABA, “ said Deborah Homewood, CEO of Pacnet Australia and New Zealand.

According to organizers, the focus for this award was Pacnet’s professional approach to business practice, its contribution to industry and society, its high standard of marketing strategy and levels of innovation and creativity. The award also acknowledged the enormous importance of good telecommunications solutions to businesses operating internationally.

“This award validates Pacnet’s strategic approach in helping customers build a solid foundation for international business communications,” Ms Homewood added. “One of Pacnet’s unique abilities is to leverage the region’s most extensive submarine cable network – EAC-C2C – to provide diverse and robust network connections supporting businesses in Asia. As multinational enterprises deal with more geographically dispersed locations and workforces, the challenge is to improve the user experience.”

The independent judging panel was chaired by The Hon. Sir Laurence Street AC KCMG QC and comprised The Hon. Henry Tsang OAM MLC and other professionals and industry heads from Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Austrade, Qantas Airways, Aon Risk Services and CMC Markets.
