Pacnet Enabled Network (PEN) Allows Customers to Self-Provision Scalable, Private Networks in Minutes

The United States Joins Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore as Latest Addition to PEN Deployment Schedule

HONG KONG, 19 February 2014 – Pacnet today announced the availability of its Pacnet Enabled Network (PEN) in data centers throughout Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and now the United States in response to strong market demand.  Enabling Enterprise and Carrier customers to rapidly and cost-effectively create the foundation of a virtual, integrated data center, PEN is a fully automated software-defined network (SDN) providing a flexible and scalable service platform that is agile and lowers total cost of network operations.

Since its beta launch last November, PEN has garnered significant interest from customers spanning the IT, logistics, manufacturing and financial services sectors in Australia, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong, as well as the U.S.  PEN allows customers to customize and configure their network resources based on performance and quality of service requirements under a flexible pricing model and industry-leading SLAs.

Through the PEN web-based GUI or Pacnet Connect, customers can provision network services between two locations in minutes without going through the traditional, long lead, manual provisioning process.  PEN also enables customers to build network interconnects with bandwidth and performance characteristics tailored to their unique business requirements.

PEN offers customers access to Pacnet’s extensive network of data centers and major carriers, creating a virtualized, cross-connected Asia-Pacific ecosystem.  It also has the capability to extend enterprise-class data centers and private clouds to any external cloud vendors with its OpenFlow-based software controller, offering customers the flexibility to instantly provision cloud compatible networks throughout the region.

“The launch of PEN enables customers to build the high-performance and cloud-ready networks needed to overcome networking challenges prompted by the growth of cloud computing,” said Jim Fagan, President of Managed Services at Pacnet.  “With PEN, Pacnet brings cloud provisioning to the network, empowering on-demand, scalable bandwidth provisioning based on customers’ unique performance and QoS requirements.”

According to Transparency Market Research’s new market report “Software Defined Networking (SDN) Market – Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends, and Forecast, 2012 – 2018”, the global market for SDN is expected to reach US$3.52 billion by 2018, growing at a CAGR of 61.5 percent from 2012 to 2018.  This market growth is primarily driven by the increasing demand for cloud services.  As a result, today’s businesses are expecting network gear purchased to be ‘SDN compatible’ or upgradeable.

Pacnet will continue to expand PEN’s availability on a global scale throughout the rest of the year, with the next geographic rollout planned in Korea and Taiwan — providing customers with scalable bandwidth, integrating software-enabled intelligence with Pacnet’s unsurpassed network of data centers and undersea cable infrastructure.

Pacnet Enhances Wave Premium Service

100G Network Upgrades Provide Enhanced Service Availability, Rapid Restoration Capability, and Industry-Leading SLAs for Carrier Customers

HONG KONG, 22 January 2014 – Pacnet today announced its Wavelength Premium International Private Line (Wave Premium) service has been enhanced now that its 100G Asia-Pacific network upgrade has been completed. The expanded network capacity provides carriers and service providers higher availability and priority restoration capabilities through unparalleled route diversity.

The enhanced Wave Premium service offers customers industry-leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with service credits up to 100 percent of monthly service charges, and will significantly decrease restoration time when a subsea outage occurs. With multiple subsea cables connecting major markets in the region, Pacnet has the ability to provide carriers and service providers multiple route options and assurances for restoration.

“The vast majority of subsea outages are caused by external aggression, not technical defaults or other operational issues and the time required to make repairs results in significant business impact for customers,” said John Garrett, President of Carrier Services, Pacnet. “With the 100G upgrade, our capacity enables us to offer a resilient, meshed network that provides customers redundancy with multiple routes to the same destinations.”

Compounding the concern of network outages for carriers is customers’ widespread demand for higher capacity. TeleGeography research predicts that Intra-Asia and Trans-Pacific bandwidth will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 77 percent and 50 percent respectively from 2010 to 2016. Pacnet’s Wave Premium Service addresses the increasingly growing demand for bandwidth throughout the Asia-Pacific region and all over the world, delivering powerful 100G capacity to customers to help them meet the high bandwidth requirements of their subscribers.

Pacnet owns and operates Asia’s largest Trans-Pacific and intra-Asia subsea fiber optic cable network that spans 36,800 kilometers and connects to cable landing stations and Points of Presence (PoPs) in key Asian markets including Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. With up to 10.24 Terabytes per second (TBps) of combined design capacity and multiple landing points in most locations, Pacnet provides customers with low latency connectivity and network resilience through increased route diversity.

For a limited time, Pacnet Wave Premium is available at the price of Wave Standard to new customers as well as those upgrading their services after initial contract terms have expired. Please contact sales.inquiries@pacnet.com for more details.

Pacnet Opens Singapore’s First Data Center with Tier III Design Certification

Leading MNCs and Enterprises Tap on the Data Center to Expand Their Business in the Region

SINGAPORE, 14 January 2014 – Pacnet, a leading provider of integrated network and technology solutions in the Asia-Pacific region, today officially opened CloudSpace II (SGCS2), the first data center design in Singapore to be recognized with Uptime Institute’s Tier Certification of Design Documents. The US$90 million facility is one of Pacnet’s flagship data centers built to help meet the rapidly growing demand for interconnected, advanced data and managed services in the Asia-Pacific region. Leading multinational companies and local enterprises such as Acclivis Technologies and Solutions (Acclivis) have already committed to deploying in SGCS2 to expand their business.

The eight-storey, 155,000-square foot standalone facility, strategically located in Paya Lebar, was built to Tier III criteria and received certification of the design documents by Uptime Institute on 4 December 2013. The facility is also designed in accordance with the BCA Green Mark scheme – the equivalent to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the US Green Building Council.

“With Singapore firmly entrenched as a dynamic financial hub, the Infocomm Development Authority’s recent push to develop into a big data hub translates into a rising need for data center services,” said Mr Giles Proctor, Vice President of Data Center Construction and Operations at Pacnet. “We are excited about launching Singapore’s first data center with Tier III Design Certification from the Uptime Institute, and continuing to grow along with the Lion City in the years ahead.”

The new flagship data center not only provides customers with colocation and connectivity services, it also offers them access to Pacnet’s managed services, including Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) and Pacnet Enabled Network (PEN). Available in the first quarter of 2014, PEN is an industry-first Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) platform that will allow customers in the SGCS2 to manage networking services virtually and build high performance and cloud-ready networks that are cost-efficient, reliable, flexible and scalable.

Pacnet Becomes an Intelisys Supplier Partner

Agents can now address Data Connectivity and Data Center opportunities in the growing Asia-Pacific Market

Hong Kong, 30 October 2013 – Pacnet , a leading provider of integrated network and technology solutions in the Asia Pacific region, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Intelisys to join its Supplier Partner program. Intelisys is the largest Technology Services Distributor in the United States and offers a broad suite of technology solutions to ensure the success of its sales agents.
The new agreement will allow Intelisys sub-agents to sell Pacnet’s Data Center, MPLS, Ethernet Private Line, IP Transit, Dedicated Internet Access, and Content Delivery Network services throughout the Asia Pacific region including China, Australia, and India. Pacnet operates the region’s most extensive submarine cable network and it is connected to data centers located in most of Asia’s largest markets including its CloudSpace facilities in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and China.
“We are very pleased that Pacnet is becoming a member of our Supplier Partner program. Pacnet’s Asia-Pacific network provides a carrier class, yet flexible sales solution to enterprise customers in one of the fastest growing regions of the world,” said Jay Bradley, President of Intelisys. “Demand for international services continues to grow and this agreement demonstrates our commitment to support our Partners with customer opportunities in Asia.”
Intelisys is focused on empowering the independent sales channel by assisting businesses in making informed choices about services, technology, and cost savings and delivers carrier neutral solutions to end-user customers through a nationwide network of telecommunications sales, consulting professionals, and IT Solution Providers/VARs.

“The Asia-Pacific region has seen explosive growth over the past several years and more-and-more US-based companies are either looking to expand their current operations in the region or create new operations – particularly in China and India,” said Cardi Prinzi, President Enterprise Markets for Pacnet. “We have seen from experience that agent’s customers may be utilizing providers that do not extend services to Asia, so Pacnet can help them provide additional services for expansion and have a platform to address new opportunities.”
Pacnet’s senior leadership team has many years of experience of working with the agent channel in the US. Chief Executive Officer Carl Grivner joined Pacnet after several years as CEO for XO Communications. Later in the year Prinzi came to Pacnet following roles with EarthLink-New Edge Networks. Then in January of 2013 Jason Kitzmiller with experience at TelePacific-Mpower was recruited as Channel Director.
“We look forward to supporting Intelisys and its sales partners in their efforts to expand into Asia. We know that Intelisys carefully selects its suppliers and I think this relationship will help its sales partners to gain incremental opportunities by opening up Asia to them,” said Kitzmiller, “With a comprehensive set of services and an incredible footprint, they can really leverage Pacnet to help them expand their service offerings and reach for their customers.”
